Mary, Did You Know? (Voice Recital #3.)

Here are Elizabeth's two performances of "Mary, Did You Know?" She needed to learn it for the children's choir at church so we used it for her voice lesson recital too. We (which includes Elizabeth herself, Wade and me as well as Mrs. Lori, the children's choir director who attended her recital) sung it better last night at church. Those high notes are hard to hit!

Voice Recital:

Counting Wade, Andrew and me she had 16 people who came just to watch her at the recital. That made her happy and it meant a lot to me that so many of our family and friends came to support us.

Christmas Dinner at Church:

She got a lot of "Amen!"s after that. Such a powerful song. I love it and am so happy she learned it.

Here's the short story of how Elizabeth came to sing it. After her October voice recital she had to start thinking of a Christmas song she wanted to begin working on. I suggested, "Mary, Do You Know?" as it's one of my favorites. She didn't bite as she wanted to take more time to explore what was out there. I was okay with that. Well, a week later, the Mrs. Lori, the children's choir director, called to see if she would be interested in singing it for the Christmas dinner performance. The children told the Christmas story from Luke 2 taking turns saying the verses and in-between they would sing songs that corresponded with that part of the Christmas story. So of course Elizabeth was interested in singing a solo for the performance. I was happy to have "my" song sung. It must have been the Lord's will. ;) ;)

I am so happy she's found something she LOVES. She has other loves (writing, horses, reading, etc) but this is a talent that can be beneficial, especially to serving the Lord.
